Some support slots are oddly matched, that’s for sure. How was Hammond received by the T. Rex audience?

Delightful read, Ian. I've not listened to this album for years but what a tracklist! What a set of songs. He never bettered this, in my opinion.

I agree, although ‘The Slider’ came close.

Such a great album and you’ve just prompted me to listen to it again. Also, Bolan and Black - who knew?!

One of my favorite LPs back in high school. I bet I played this thousands of times. Well for sure hundreds. Thanks for the time travel, Ian!

At least hundreds for me too. There must have been a time when all I listened to was T. Rex - just before I discovered prog.

So love this album; an evergreen classic. Not a weak track! Own it on vinyl and CD.

My high school days were filled with the music of Bowie, T-Rex and Todd Rundgren. Thanks for the memories.

A confession: I've never listened to this album as an album. Oh, yes - lots of the tracks - but the whirlwinds of music throughout my life never picked this one up and dropped fully onto whatever player I was using at the time. That's been fixed now, though - and what an album. A new favourite (I especially like side 2). Thanks!

Great take on a great album. I've never been able to make a Bowie playlist without including a Bolan track. They are inextricably linked. "Mambo Sun" is one of my favorite songs ever.

Thank you. 'Mambo Sun' is one of my favorites too.

Bolan and Bowie - I love 'Prettiest Star' on 'Alladin Sane' with Bolan's guitar lifting the track (not that it needed much lifting, what a great song).

Edit: It's Ronson on the 'Aladdin Sane' version. And I've spelt 'Aladdin' correctly this time. Apart from that, all good :-)

Great read! I was blown away by Cosmic Dancer as a teen the first time I watched Billy Elliott.

Thank you.

Gosh, yes, T. Rex in Billie Elliott - one of the most joyous moments of the film was when 'I Love to Boogie' blasted out.

I'm definitely going to listen to it. Thanks.
