It took me a while, but I came to really like On an Island. It's mellower and less immediate than About Face (which I love), but it's more ambitious and I always hear something new when I play it. About Face, I know every mole and ingrown hair. Both essential in their own ways.
That would have been awesome to find out what Gilmour and Townshend might have created together. But since they did work together more than once, we do have a bit of an idea. I didn't know that Pete wrote the lyrics for "Love on the Air." It's funny because that one reminds me of Townshend musically more than lyrically.

Townshend’s White City album is a favourite of mine. It's a shame the collaboration with Gilmour didn't go further.
