This is the penultimate Gems of 2023 and I’m doing it differently. I’ve compiled my favourite tracks of the 131 included in the 13 playlists I’ve curated since I began in September, in a double-album playlist. Are they among your favourites, too? You can still find all the original playlists on Spotify (search Gems and go to the ‘playlist’ tab) and the listening notes under the Gems section of my Substack home page.

Paid subscribers receive the full double album and the Gems #14 listening notes, reedited and updated, and including the video for each track (where there is one). Plans for 2024 include more themed playlists exclusive to paid subscriptions, as well as the regular weekly playlists for everyone.

It’s especially easy to upgrade to paid just now, because, until 31st December, I’m reducing the annual subscription to LP by 20%. On 1st January 2024, subscription rates will be returned to normal.

You’ll receive this after the last UK posting date, so remember you can give LP as a gift, and no posting is required. As you know, I write about a wide range of music, so a paid subscription might help someone in your life to widen their musical horizons.

In curating Gems #14 I’ve excluded classic tracks - they will return to the weekly Gems next year as more albums celebrate anniversaries.

Next week (22nd December) I’m posting Gems #12 Christmas again, as a reminder not all Christmas music has to be the same old same old (as enjoyable as many of the these tracks are).

Finally, thank you all for your amazing support since I, somewhat hesitantly, started. It’s lovely to get your feedback - about the music you enjoyed and, sometimes, the music you didn’t - and I’m looking forward to finding new music next year when Gems returns on 5th January 2024.

The single album version of highlights is free for all - click the button below.

Whichever plan you subscribe to, thank you for reading and listening this year … and Merry Christmas x
